Verdejo: the Other White Meat

The 2005 Naia Rueda DO 100% Verdejo 13 % alcohol Henry Wine Group is light-gold in color; the sweet floral bouquet is inviting, offering mango, kiwi, honeydew, golden apples, bright sweet grapefruit and lime zest. The palate is bright and racy, while balanced, with great structure—firm, clean acid—some steely mineral qualities, with long, lingering crisp sweetness, lime, sweet grapefruit, tropical fruit and faint herbaceous notes. A beautifully balanced summer wine—perfect for seafood, ranging from sushi and oysters to grilled fish with rich sauces.

I purchased this bottle for $13.99 minus 10% ($1.40) for six-bottle purchase at Whole Foods. Bottles like these make me wonder how people are still actually paying $20(+) for homogenized California Chardonnay. But, to each his own. Gracias, Maestro!
